EUDR DDS reference number

What the EUDR due diligence statement reference number is

Direct answer. Regulation (EU) 2025/2650 amends Article 33(2) of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 so that the information system includes “registration of due diligence statements including the communication to the operator concerned of a reference number for each due diligence statement submitted through the information system.” The same article assigns a declaration identifier when a micro or small primary operator submits a simplified declaration. Article 4(7), as that amendment replaces it, says operators shall communicate to downstream operators and traders further down the supply chain the reference numbers of the due diligence statements or, if applicable, the declaration identifiers associated to those products. Article 5(3) says downstream operators and traders collect and keep those reference numbers or declaration identifiers only in the event that their supplier is an operator, and Article 5(4) says they keep the Article 5(3) information for at least five years. The same amendment deletes Article 4 paragraphs 8, 9 and 10. The current text for actors further down the chain is that communication and that collection, not a new statement that repeats a number already submitted. This page does not state a format, a length, or an example number. See the Commission’s information system guidance. It is not legal advice.

EUDR Records Manager (Shopify App Store · Write a review) tracks supplier lots, product links, missing fields, document packs, CSV exports, and audit logs for EUDR record review, including a supplier and commodity-lot registry with DDS reference numbers per product. The listing does not say the app submits a due diligence statement or receives a reference number from the information system. Who is in scope, and when, is the scope guide.

Checklist before you store a number

What the operator submits, and what a later seller keeps

Article 4(2) is the operator’s submission of the due diligence statement through the information system referred to in Article 33, before placing relevant products on the market or exporting them. Article 33(2)(b), as replaced by Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, is the system’s communication of a reference number to that operator for each statement submitted. Article 4(3), as replaced, says operators shall keep a record of the due diligence statements for five years from the date the statement is submitted through the information system. Filing is that submission. A catalog record of a number you already hold is not that filing.

Article 4(7), as replaced, is the hand-off: operators communicate the reference numbers, or if applicable the declaration identifiers, to downstream operators and traders further down the supply chain. Article 5(3)(a) then tells those downstream operators and traders to collect and keep supplier identity and, only in the event that their supplier is an operator, the reference numbers or the declaration identifiers associated to those products. Recital 6 of Regulation (EU) 2025/2650 says the obligation to collect and keep reference numbers should apply only to the first downstream operator or trader. Read the article and the recital together on EUR-Lex before you decide which link in your chain that is. Article 5(4) is the retention sentence: at least five years, and provide the information to the competent authorities upon request.

An online seller who is not the operator submitting the statement does not obtain the reference number by typing Annex II fields into a shop admin. The seller keeps the reference number, or the declaration identifier, received for that lot or order, for the period Article 5 states. The Annex II contents of the statement itself are the due diligence statement example. Storing the number against the lot is the lot registry. Geolocation of plots is a different article.

Other identifiers: see the Commission’s guidance

This page names two identifiers that Regulation (EU) 2025/2650 prints: the reference number for a due diligence statement, and the declaration identifier for a simplified declaration. It does not describe any further token the information system may show, and it does not give a pattern or an example. The Commission’s information-system page says the system functions pursuant to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/3084. Read that guidance, and the implementing regulation, for anything the screen shows beyond the two names in the 2025/2650 text.

The app keeps the lot records you enter. It does not submit the statement.
