Net 30 vs net 60

In Shopify B2B, net 30 and net 60 are Net (period) terms that start the day the order is placed

Direct answer. In trade invoices, “net 30” and “net 60” are often used to mean payment is due within 30 or 60 days. This page does not quote a bank or card-network rule for that wording. In Shopify B2B, payment terms are a store setting. Setting up payment terms in B2B says: “Payment terms define how long a company has to pay for an order. You can set payment terms for each company location.” The Net (period) row lists net 7, net 15, net 30, net 45, net 60, and net 90, all starting from the day the order is placed, and gives a net 30 example. Quotes below are from that Help page, checked 12 October 2026.

B2B PO Guard (Shopify App Store · Write a review): “Validate PO numbers, deposits, Net terms, order review, and D2C no-op behavior for Shopify native B2B checkout workflows.” It does not set Shopify’s native payment terms.

The payment term types, as written

A note above the table: “If there’s a deposit requirement, then payment for the deposit is due up front. The remaining balance on the order is due on payment terms.”

Payment term Description, as written Can be set on
No payment terms Payment is due immediately. This is the default setting. Company location and individual draft orders.
Net (period) Payment is due within a specific time period that you select. The available terms are net 7, net 15, net 30, net 45, net 60, and net 90. All terms start from the day the order is placed. For example, if you select net 30 terms, then customers need to pay for their orders within 30 days. Company location and individual draft orders.
Due on fulfillment Payment is due after all items in the order are fulfilled. Company location and individual draft orders.
Fixed date Payment is due on a specific calendar date in either the past or future. For example, payment is due on January 27, 2026. Individual draft orders.

Fixed date is draft-order only, as that last cell states. The how-to for choosing a term on a company location is Shopify B2B payment terms.

Later on the same page: “Payments aren’t automatically captured when the payment terms expire.”

Net 30 and net 60 side by side

Every cell is taken from the Net (period) row or the opening sentences quoted above
Net 30 Net 60
Due window The worked example says customers need to pay for their orders within 30 days. Listed among the available terms: net 7, net 15, net 30, net 45, net 60, and net 90. The page does not repeat the “within N days” example for net 60. The row’s general sentence is that payment is due within the specific time period that you select.
When the clock starts All terms start from the day the order is placed. All terms start from the day the order is placed. The sentence is not limited to net 30.
Where you set it Company location and individual draft orders. The page also says you can set payment terms for each company location. Company location and individual draft orders. Same cell as net 30, because both are Net (period) terms.

“2/10 net 30”

Outside Shopify, the phrase “2/10 net 30” is often used in trade invoices for an early-payment discount. This page does not quote an official definition of that phrase. Shopify’s Net (period) list above does not include that discount syntax.
