Textile Labelling Regulation revision

Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 still applies while the Commission reviews it

Direct answer. Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 remains the in-force Textile Labelling Regulation on EUR-Lex. The Commission has opened a review and public consultation on a possible revision through Have Your Say and describes that work on its DG GROW review page. A review, call for evidence, or planned proposal is not a new regulation. Until EUR-Lex shows an adopted successor, fibre-name and composition duties stay in 1007/2011 as amended. Consultation dates and any later proposal date can move; confirm the live official pages. This page is not legal advice.

FibreLedger Textile Labels (Shopify App Store · Write a review) checks fibre names against the official Annex I catalogue of Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011, flags trade names that are not lawful fibre names, and records French places of manufacture for online textile listings. It does not certify compliance and does not replace 1007/2011. This page is the revision-status reading aid — not the Annex I composition walkthrough.

Checklist: what still governs the label

The in-force regulation

EUR-Lex still hosts Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 on fibre names and related labelling of textile products. That is the act FibreLedger’s Annex I checks refer to. How composition must appear before purchase, and why trade names are not Annex I names, is the sibling job on EU textile fibre composition labels. This page does not repeat that composition walkthrough.

What official Commission pages say about the revision

DG GROW’s review page states that current rules are limited to fibre composition, that the Commission is considering a more uniform labelling set under REFIT, and that the work is a back-to-back evaluation and impact assessment. It records a call for evidence (3 August 2023 to 30 September 2023), a public consultation (19 December 2023 to 15 April 2024), and a stakeholder validation workshop on 18 October 2024. It also describes those reactions as feeding an ongoing evaluation and impact assessment that underpins a planned proposed revision. Those consultation windows and any later “planned” quarter are Commission process statements; they are not an adopted regulation and they can change. The matching Have Your Say initiative is Revision of EU rules on textile labelling.

If a proposal is later published, it will appear on EUR-Lex with a COM number. Until then, do not write store-label policy as if a successor regulation already applies.
