EU FIC food business operator name and address
Distance-sale food pages need the food business operator’s name and address before purchase — not a GPSR RP field
EU Food Info Guard (Shopify App Store) is a Shopify app that, as the live listing states, reviews allergen, ingredient, nutrition, net quantity, origin, operator, and storage gaps before food product display. It detects all 14 EU Annex II allergens from ingredient text and flags an allergen the ingredients mention but the declared list omits. It does not decide who the legal food business operator is, appoint a GPSR responsible person, or replace counsel. This page is not legal advice. Confirm the live listing.

Job: for EU distance selling of prepacked food, put the name or business name and address of the food business operator on the material supporting the sale (for example the product page) before purchase. That is Article 9(1)(h) of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, not a GPSR manufacturer or EU responsible-person field.
Mandatory particular: name or business name and address
Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 Art. 9(1)(h) (HTTP 200 at PR time; the same wording is on the UK legislation.gov.uk Article 9 mirror, also HTTP 200) lists as a mandatory particular: the name or business name and address of the food business operator referred to in Article 8(1). Read that live sentence. This page does not replace it with a shorter nickname. Confirm the eli URL, not this paraphrase. This page is not legal advice.
Who is the food business operator (high level)
Art. 8(1) of the same regulation (confirm on the EUR-Lex eli page; the UK Article 8 mirror is HTTP 200 but carries GB textual amendments — use EUR-Lex for EU distance sales) states that the food business operator responsible for the food information is the operator under whose name or business name the food is marketed or, if that operator is not established in the Union, the importer into the Union market. Counsel decides that identity for the SKU in front of you. This page does not. EU Food Info Guard does not choose your FBO.
Distance selling: before purchase, not only at delivery
Art. 14(1) of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011: for prepacked foods offered for sale by means of distance communication, mandatory food information, except the date of minimum durability or the ‘use by’ date in Art. 9(1)(f), shall be available before the purchase is concluded and shall appear on the material supporting the distance selling or be provided through other appropriate means clearly identified by the food business operator, without charging consumers supplementary costs. All mandatory particulars shall be available at the moment of delivery. Operator name and address sits in that pre-purchase set (it is not the durability exception). Confirm the live article; this page is a paraphrase.
The Commission’s distance-selling page (HTTP 200 at PR time) states the same job in plain language: for prepacked foods, the responsible food business operator must make all mandatory food information available before the purchase is concluded, except the date of minimum durability or the “use by” date; the information must appear on the material supporting the distance selling (for example a webpage) or through other appropriate means the operator clearly identifies, without extra cost; all mandatory particulars at delivery.
Shopify ops (native, high level)
Merchants typically keep the operator name-and-address string in product or company data the theme already prints, or provide it through other appropriate means the food business operator clearly identifies, without extra cost to the consumer — the same Art. 14 shape as the Commission page. This page does not prescribe metafield namespaces, app blocks, packing-slip steps, or a layout the App Store listing does not name. Confirm the live product page shows the string before purchase. Keep the durability or use-by date apart from that pre-purchase block if it is delivery-only.
Not the same as GPSR, allergens, nutrition, honey origin, or storage
- GPSR manufacturer / EU responsible person — consumer-product contact fields, not FIC Art. 9(1)(h). That path is GPSR manufacturer fields vs responsible person. Putting an RP line on a food SKU does not finish this job, and this page does not appoint an RP.
- Allergen emphasis — Annex II names in the ingredient list. That job is allergen labelling before purchase.
- Nutrition declaration and net quantity — Art. 9(1)(l) and (e). That path is nutrition and net quantity before purchase.
- Honey origin / blend % — a neighbouring origin particular. That path is honey origin on the product page.
- Storage conditions — a different Art. 9 particular; the listing names storage gaps. This page does not expand that job into a second guide.
When the app path fits
Re-fetched at PR time (HTTP 200), the EU Food Info Guard listing still states: review allergen, ingredient, nutrition, net quantity, origin, operator, and storage gaps before food product display. It detects all 14 EU Annex II allergens from ingredient text and flags an allergen the ingredients mention but the declared list omits. Use that gap review — including the operator field the listing names — after the name-and-address string exists in the data you already show. The app organizes merchant data. It does not decide who the legal FBO is, does not appoint a GPSR responsible person, does not certify the product page, and does not replace counsel. Not legal advice.
- Open the listing (
apps.shopify.com/fic-food-info-guard) and install it on the store that distance-sells food. - Review gaps on the first SKU, including the operator field the listing names, alongside the other food-info fields it lists.
- Fix any allergen the ingredients mention but the declared list omits.
- Confirm the live product page shows the operator name and address before purchase. Keep the durability or use-by date apart from that pre-purchase block if it is delivery-only.
What this page is not
- Not legal advice, a compliance certification, or a substitute for counsel.
- Not a GPSR appointment, and not a claim that a manufacturer or responsible-person field finishes Art. 9(1)(h).
- Not a claim that the app chooses your food business operator.
- Not Agentic Catalog by momiji, and not a GTIN / identifier repair job.

Not legal advice. Confirm Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 before you publish food copy. The app organizes food-information data you enter; it does not decide who the legal food business operator is, and it does not decide lawfulness.
