Prop 65 cart disclosure
A Prop 65 product-page disclosure does not automatically appear on the cart — cart is a separate display surface
Prop 65 Warning Manager (Shopify App Store) displays California Prop 65 warnings on product pages and keeps an audit trail of warning edits, assignments, and storefront activation events. Every warning needs merchant approval before it goes live. Publish from templates citing 27 CCR §§ 25601–25607, including 2028 short-form text with chemical names. Cart display is a native Product Disclosures job — product page and cart are separate Display preferences. The app does not decide whether an exposure requires a warning. This page is not legal advice.

Two native surfaces: product page and cart
Shopify Product Disclosures can target the product page and the cart through Display preferences. Completing the product-page surface does not imply the cart. Shopify Help Adding product disclosures documents options for displaying a disclosure on the online store’s product pages and cart page. shopify.dev product disclosures names the Display preferences surfaces as product_page, cart, and checkout, and states that disclosures render natively on the product details page and cart. Checkout is a third surface and needs a Checkout UI extension. Product listings gained a Disclosures field on 17 June 2026.
In Admin, open the product → Disclosures → set Display preferences for the surfaces you need, then Save. Selecting product page alone leaves cart off unless you also select cart.

When cart display matters
Shopify Help calls out cart display when a disclosure on the product page might not be viewed. Two cases Help names:
- A quick add button that adds a product straight to the cart from a collection page.
- Add-on products that need a disclosure, when the add-on product page may never be viewed because it is set to Unlisted.
In those flows, select Cart in that disclosure’s Display preferences so the warning can show on the customer’s cart page. This page does not add extra legal checklists beyond that Help guidance.
The theme still has to render cart disclosures
Admin Display preferences and the theme have to agree. Selecting Cart in Admin is the storefront-location flag. The theme still has to render disclosures on the cart. Help notes that some sales channels, online store themes, or custom storefronts might not support certain display types. Confirm the live cart after Admin and the theme both include that surface.

Not the same as jurisdiction, checkout ship-to, 2028 copy, alcohol, or an approval desk
- California-only / US-CA jurisdiction — who the structured disclosure applies to, not which Online Store surface renders it. See California-only / US-CA.
- Ship-to-California at checkout — a checkout shipping-address job, not Display preferences on the cart. See ship-to-California at checkout.
- 2028 chemical-name short form — warning content for goods labeled on or after 1 January 2028, not the cart-versus-PDP surface split. See Prop 65 warning on the product page.
- Alcohol disclosure type — wine, beer, and spirits use the alcohol type, not the cart surface itself. See alcohol disclosure type.
- Native disclosures vs approval and audit log — cart display is not an approval desk. Showing a warning on the cart and requiring merchant approval before go-live are different jobs. See native disclosures vs approval and audit log.
App path: approval and storefront-activation audit — optional for cart display
Native Product Disclosures can cover product-page and cart surfaces without an app. Use Prop 65 Warning Manager when you also need the jobs the listing describes: merchant approval before any warning goes live, and an audit trail of warning edits, assignments, and storefront activation events, including 2028 short-form templates that name a listed chemical (27 CCR §§ 25601–25607).
- Set native Display preferences so the product page and, when Help’s cases apply, the cart are both selected. Confirm the live cart on your theme.
- Open the Prop 65 Warning Manager listing when several people can edit products and you need approve-before-go-live plus the activation audit trail.
- Attach a cited template, review and approve before go-live, then keep the audit record of what published.
The app helps display and document warning content the merchant chooses. It does not decide whether an exposure requires a warning. This page is not legal advice.

What this page is not
- Not legal advice, a compliance certification, or a decision that Prop 65 applies to a product.
- Not a Checkout UI extension tutorial. Checkout is a third surface in Shopify’s docs; this page is the cart-versus-product-page split.
- Not a substitute for the sibling pages on US-CA jurisdiction, ship-to-California checkout, 2028 chemical-name short form, alcohol type, or approval-versus-native display.
