CLP label elements checklist

CLP Art. 17 label elements: supplier, quantity, identifiers, pictograms, signal word, statements

Direct answer. Under CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 Art. 17 a hazard label carries the supplier’s name, address and telephone number; the nominal quantity of the substance or mixture in the package made available to the general public; product identifiers; hazard pictograms; a signal word; hazard statements; precautionary statements; and supplemental information where applicable. Read Article 17 of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on EUR-Lex. This page is not legal advice.

CLPLens: CLP Hazard Display (Shopify App Store · Write a review) creates product hazard profiles with GHS pictograms and statements, reviews missing hazard fields before publishing, and syncs app-owned metafields for theme-block storefront display. It does not classify mixtures or decide legal compliance. This page is the Art. 17 label-element checklist — not the product-page pictogram job and not classification.

The Art. 17 set on the pack

Art. 17 lists the elements a classified substance or mixture in packaging must show on the label. Confirm the live article on EUR-Lex; this list is a reading aid, not a determination that any pack is lawful.

Which of those items apply to a given SKU follows from its classification and from the rest of CLP, not from this checklist. A reading aid such as the CLP label element checker can only flag words and codes in pasted text; it cannot classify the mixture.

Formatting and legibility after Regulation (EU) 2024/2865

Regulation (EU) 2024/2865 revised CLP formatting and legibility rules for labels. Check the current text of that regulation and of CLP as amended; this page does not invent application dates. Font size, layout, fold-out labels, and related presentation rules sit in the live articles and annexes, not in this paraphrase.

The pack label is not the same job as the product-page block

Art. 17 is the on-pack label set. Showing hazard pictograms and statements on a distance-sale product page is a related but separate surface. Walk that job on CLP hazard pictograms on the product page. CLPLens stores the hazard profile you enter and displays it on the product page; it does not write the pack label or classify the mixture. Open the CLPLens: CLP Hazard Display listing when you want that storefront path.
