Prop 65 food short-form
Food Prop 65 short-form uses /food and no triangle — that is warning content, not a separate Shopify disclosure type
Prop 65 Warning Manager (Shopify App Store) displays California Prop 65 warnings on product pages and keeps an audit trail of warning edits, assignments, and storefront activation events. Every warning needs merchant approval before it goes live. Publish from templates citing 27 CCR §§ 25601–25607, including 2028 short-form text with chemical names. Food versus chemical-product short-form is a content difference under OEHHA, not a separate Shopify disclosure type. The app does not decide whether an exposure requires a warning. This page is not legal advice.

Food short-form content is not the same as most consumer-product short-forms
OEHHA’s food short-form path uses the Prop 65 warnings site with a /food URL and does not use the yellow triangle with exclamation mark that appears on most consumer-product short-forms. Confirm the live materials on p65warnings.ca.gov/food and OEHHA’s business FAQ — including 2028 short-form chemical-name rules and cases where short-form is unavailable — before you publish. This page is not legal advice.
On Shopify, native Product Disclosures types are cancer, reproductive, both, and alcohol (shopify.dev product disclosures). There is no separate “food” disclosure type. Food versus chemical-product wording is the text you attach, then Display preferences for product page and cart as the cart vs product page sibling explains.

Listing path: template, approval, product-page display, activation audit
- Choose a cited warning template or content that matches the safe-harbor text you intend to show — including food short-form content when that is the path you are relying on.
- Require merchant approval before any warning goes live — not theme-only display.
- Show the warning on the product page (theme app block path on the listing).
- Keep the audit trail of warning edits, assignments, and storefront activation events.
Native Disclosures can still show a typed notice when that is enough. Use the app when you also need approve-before-go-live and the storefront-activation audit trail for the content you published.

Not the same as alcohol, 2028 PDP, cart, checkout ship-to, or jurisdiction
- Alcohol disclosure type — wine, beer, and spirits use the alcohol type. See alcohol disclosure type.
- 2028 chemical-name short form on the product page — label-date and chemical-name rules for short-form generally. See Prop 65 warning on the product page.
- Cart vs product page — Display preferences surfaces, not food URL content. See cart vs product page.
- Ship-to-California at checkout — checkout shipping-address job. See ship-to-California at checkout.
- California-only / US-CA — jurisdiction who the disclosure applies to. See California-only / US-CA.
- Native disclosures vs approval and audit log — showing a typed notice versus approve-before-go-live. See native disclosures vs approval and audit log.

What this page is not
- Not legal advice, a compliance certification, or a decision that Prop 65 applies to a food SKU.
- Not a claim that the app adds a food-only Shopify disclosure type.
- Not a substitute for the sibling pages on alcohol, 2028 chemical-name short form, cart surfaces, checkout ship-to, or jurisdiction.
