EU right-to-repair proof records
EU right-to-repair proof needs revision-linked forms, not a loose email thread
Job: keep after-sales repair proof — purchase check, diagnosis, quote, a revision-linked repair information form, then repair/return/closure — so a later review can retrieve the same text the consumer saw.
Inbox threads are not that file. Directive (EU) 2024/1799 applies from 31 July 2026 after national transposition. The European Repair Information Form (Annex I) is voluntary — but if you offer it, durable-medium and 30-day rules attach. Not legal advice.
Verify the purchase, issue a checksummed revision, then retain a redacted audit trail through closure.
Confirm current plans on the App Store listing before you install.
Install, attach the first proof, confirm the product page
The paid path is repairability / right-to-repair evidence attached where buyers or auditors can see the path this guide documents - not a PDF buried in a shared drive.
- Install RepairProof EU from the App Store.
- Attach the first repairability proof for the target product.
- Confirm the product page (or in-app record) shows the proof path you intended.
- Keep that first proof as the template before you roll out the catalog.
The app helps attach and surface proof content you provide. It does not certify repairability. This page is not legal advice.
Install RepairProof EU → attach first proof → confirm product path

Short walkthrough of the app flow. Then follow the start path below.
Start path: intake to a checksummed form
- Open the RepairProof EU listing (
apps.shopify.com/repairproof-eu) and install it on the store that takes repair requests. - Verify the purchase before intake. Record diagnosis and quote details.
- Issue a revision-linked repair information form (with checksum). Do not edit a sent revision in place — open a new revision.
- Track repair, return, and closure. Keep the redacted audit trail. Product service profiles can show indicative repair information, spare-parts notes, and support periods.
The app organizes merchant-supplied records. It does not decide whether you must repair the unit or what a reasonable price is.
Do not edit a sent form in place - open a new revision
| Record | After-sales consequence |
|---|---|
| Mailbox / chat export | Unstable text, no revision identity |
| European Repair Information Form (Annex I) | Voluntary; if offered: durable medium, before contract, 30-day validity |
| Manufacturer obligation to repair (Annex II) | Legal duty — not a form template |
| Revision-linked form + audit trail (this page) | Intake → diagnosis → quote → form → repair → return → closure |
Suggested path:
- Install RepairProof EU.
- Verify purchase before intake; record diagnosis and quote.
- Issue a revision-linked repair information form (with checksum). Never overwrite a sent revision — open a new one.
- Track repair, return, closure; keep the redacted audit trail.
Example file you keep against a request (paraphrase, not the Annex I layout):
order / purchase check
product / defect
diagnosis
quote (price, time, handover)
form revision + checksum
status: repair / return / closed
redacted audit export
The app organizes merchant-supplied records. It does not decide whether you must repair the unit or what a reasonable price is.
What this page is not
- Not legal advice, a spare-parts marketplace, or a guarantee that any repair will succeed.
- Not a manufacturer legal determination for Annex II goods.
- Not CRA incident reporting. That job is Article 14 duty records.
- Not an EUDR lot registry. That path is DDS reference numbers on supplier lots.
When do EU right-to-repair proof records start to matter?
Directive (EU) 2024/1799 on common rules promoting the repair of goods is to be transposed and applied from 31 July 2026. Manufacturers of Annex II goods have an obligation to repair during the reparability window. Repairers may use the European Repair Information Form in Annex I. Confirm your Member State’s measures, not this page. This is not legal advice. Confirm Directive (EU) 2024/1799.
Is the European Repair Information Form mandatory for every request?
The form is voluntary for repairers. If you offer it, it has to be on a durable medium, before the consumer is bound, and the stated conditions stay valid for 30 calendar days (or longer if you agree). Accepting the form binds the repairer to those conditions. A loose email thread is not that record.
What belongs in a revision-linked repair proof file?
Purchase verification before intake, diagnosis and quote details, a revision-linked repair information form (with a checksum if you issue one), then repair, return, and closure steps. Product service profiles can hold indicative repair information, spare-parts notes, and support periods. Keep a redacted audit trail rather than an unbounded mailbox.
Does keeping forms mean I met the manufacturer obligation to repair?
No. The manufacturer obligation to repair Annex II goods, spare-part pricing, and anti-circumvention rules are legal duties. A request file documents the after-sales workflow you ran. It does not decide whether the product is in Annex II, whether a refusal was lawful, or whether the price was reasonable.
Is this the same as CRA duty records or an EUDR lot registry?
No. CRA files are cybersecurity reporting for products with digital elements. EUDR files map supplier lots to DDS reference numbers. Right-to-repair proof is after-sales service records for goods consumers want repaired. Do not mix those packs.
Does an app make after-sales “right-to-repair compliant”?
No. The app organizes merchant-supplied records. It does not determine legal compliance, guarantee repair outcomes, or provide legal advice. You still choose what to record and what to issue to the consumer.
Where do I keep EU right-to-repair proof records?
Use a repair workflow that verifies the purchase, records diagnosis and quote, issues revision-linked forms, tracks repair and return, and retains a redacted audit trail. RepairProof EU is the App Store listing this site already uses for that job. Open the listing, install, then run intake through closure. It is not a compliance certification.
